02/07 Cafe Verve

Again playing with the Intuos3 Tablet. This time making a fake cafe shirt for perhaps a startup coffee joint.  I like fancy type, so this is fun stuff. Plus I liked the idea of having the coffee smiling happily, with steam coming up.  The pale orange words are drop-shadowed, as is the saucer. This ended up being 5 colors, but if I eliminated the dark blue saucer for something more neutral like black, it'd be down to 4.  Don't know if I'd ever get a job as a graphic artist, but it's fun acting like I could :)

  1. I like the way you're thinking. I love my new tablet, but wish I'd popped for the more expensive model. I'm not complaining, tablets are wonderful, and I can't wait until I'm better practiced with it.

You could most certainly do a good deal of freelance work as a graphic designer.

  2. I have an Intuos3 9x12 beast. It's too big, but it's what I have. I've been drooling over the new Bamboos. The thing that has always bugged me about the 3's buttons and sliders is it's easy to accidentally hit the slider when reaching for the keyboard. But it's nicer than trying to use the pen tool all the time.

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe someday I'll try to see if it can be a viable second career. I love doing the art side- I'm not sure about the business side :)

  3. I like this one. Coffee is always a good subject. :) Like that you drew your own letters also.

My Intuos3 is the small one but it is all I have room for and as it is mapped to my huge monitor it works fine. You can customize your Wacom buttons.

I love being a graphic designer. (most days)
